Online Discussion

Online Discussion of vocabulary

There is more about learning to fly a glider than just driving the aircraft. You will need to learn about aerodynamics, weather, federal aviation flight rules, and flight safety. You will also have to learn about soaring to high altitudes, and long distances in cross country flights. This course is the first step and should give you a solid foundation to becoming a proficient glider pilot.

Use this post to discuss new terms related to gliding. Post your responses in the comments and respond to other posts.

The hands on component of the class takes place at the home base airfield – so eventually all students will have to come to the home airfield.
And there is food! Once you get involved, you will learn about the frequent pot lucks and impromptu picnics and barbecue sessions out at the field. These serve as meet, greet and eat functions.  Gliding is not only a sport; it reflects on a way of life and the spirit of comradeship.

Home base is Krey Field

Since 1987, Krey Field has been one of SoCal Soaring’s best kept secrets! Located just 2 miles south of El Mirage and Sheep Creek roads in Adelanto, California!
